Notes from the Safer Neighbourhood Group on Wednesday 24th July at 7.30 pm in the Pavilion, South Clifton

  1. Minutes of last meeting - accepted
  2. Matters arising
  • the Police’s Road Safety Week session at Coddington is being rescheduled and will take place next term
  • Spalford: Eagle Road speeding. VC working to form a village re a speedwatch group, speedwatch training and further speedwatch checks requested of NSDC and Police
  • Spalford Warren: regular police and NDSC CPO visits seemed to have quietened things down. Littering continues though, LD to follow up with NSDC and NWT
  • South Scarle tyre slashing incident: charges have now been brought and the same bail restrictions are in place up until the trial
  • Collingham Speedwatch to be resurrected: SB to implement via CPC
  1. PC/PCSO Report for the last quarter:

1/6 Collingham: break-in on High Street, 2 ‘hoodies’ with an angle-grinder

1/6 Collingham Hight St: transit van broken in to but failed as steering lock was in place

2/6 Collingham: Fisher Close. Lads, in a car, trying door handles but no-one actually broken in to

9/6 Collingham play park: 2 teens using inappropriate verbal language to youngster – not found

21/6 Collingham Swinderby Rd: targeted cherry-knocking

8/7 Collingham John Blow: break-in reported. Lads going in initially to recover a ball, now doing community work with police

2/6 Coddington: alleged male exposure but house-to-house and CCTV found nothing

11/7 Besthorpe Sand Lane: BT cable theft, cable had just been laid by BT

20/7 Harby High Street: unprovoked attack on a person, assailant apprehended

7/5Langford Reserve: break-in, tools stolen from a lock-up

8/5Winthorpe/Holme level crossing: motorbikes reported

31/5 Winthorpe/Langford: garage break-in

15/6 Winthorpe Gainsborough Road: 3 persons dressed in dark gear carrying a crowbar at 1.30 am reported

29/6 South Clifton Church Lane: £800 criminal damage to irrigation pumps

Further afield, school holidays begin and ASB usually rises then, especially in Newark. Currently there is a problem with youths wearing balaclavas on electric bikes

Coddington – no yellow lines yet…….

Collingham including Brough

  • NSDC have undertaken Speedwatch for Station Road and Swinderby Road, SB to report back to Collingham Parish Council re getting their Speedwatch group operational again
  • There had been a fatality on the railway line

Girton

  • NW scheme is running and working.
  • Ongoing litter issues on New Lane are being addressed by the Police

Harby – nothing to report
Holme – nothing reported  
North Clifton – Police support requested for managing aggressive requests from the JG resident. Will be reported back to the Notts officer handling the case.

South Clifton

  • speeding on Vicarage Lane. Details passed to Police team who will monitor.
  • Graffiti on the SUS TRANS underpass. (After the meeting NSDC confirmed that this was an issue for SUSTRANS, SB will raise this with them as he is a member

South Scarle – nothing to report

Spalford

  • ongoing speeding on Eagle Road – see under ‘matters arising’
  • Warren is still littered regularly, clarification to be sought from NSDC re bins there, and LD to get an update from NWT re cctv

Thorney – nothing to report
Wigsley – not present, but speeding along Wigsley Road by the Kennels is of concern
Winthorpe and Langford

  • car sales in the A1133 layby at Langford, NSDC to investigate (NW, LD)
  • unsafe national speed limit from the A46 onto A1133 towards the Winthorpe junction. There has been an accident here recently. LD will report back to NSDC A46 planning policy response team.

Chair requested that we all confirm that we share the outputs from this meeting back to our parish councils and village comms. From next meeting our enforcement officers could suggest the quarterly message out to residents.
