Trent Valley Trail

Trent Valley Trail

Trent Vale Trail, what is it? Passing through the beautiful natural environment of the East Trent the Trent Vale Trail is a path for walkers, cyclists and mobility aid users that will connect Newark to South Clifton passing through the communities of Winthorpe, Collingham, Besthorpe, Girton and finally South Clifton. It is safe route for  non-motorised vehicles available to the local communities and visitors to the area whether individuals, families, or organised groups.

The trail passes around the Royal Society for Protection of Birds (RSPB) reserve at Langford and directly through the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Besthorpe Nature Reserve. Unfortunately, horse riders cannot use the trail through Besthorpe Nature Reserve or the short section from Low Road, Besthorpe to the floodbank. Horse riders can use the other parts of the Trent Vale Trail which form the majority of the 15-mile length. The Trent Vale Trail is 15-miles long from Newark to South Clifton combining rights of way with upgraded even surfaces and quiet country lanes.

The trail is complete from Newark through Winthorpe, Collingham, Besthorpe and Girton currently ending at Green Lane Girton. Construction of the last section from Green Lane, Girton to Coal Yard Lane, South Clifton commences in September 2024 and will complete the trail. The last section passes over Clifton Hill where users will be able to walk to the top and enjoy spectacular views over the surrounding area, if it is a cloudless day, you may even see Lincoln Cathedral!
